Role : Environmental and Energy Manager
Based in Kendal
Salary: £40,000 per annum - £45,000 per annum + benefits

Reporting in to the Group Technology Director with a dotted line into paper Operations Director.

Seeking an engaging Environmental & Energy Manager to join an innovative, world-class, advanced materials and paper products manufacturing company. The purpose of the role is to be proactively offer strategic direction on Environment and Energy management. To promote best practice, navigate compliance and drive the company towards Net Zero.

Main responsibilities;
• Developing, coordinating and implementing energy improvement projects to dovetail into our long term energy strategy and decarbonisation
• Encouraging the use of renewable and sustainable energy resources within the company and raising the profile of energy conservation
• Developing solutions for carbon management
• Creating policies and systems for buying energy and helping with contract negotiations
• Providing technical and practical advice and offering training on energy efficiency
• Developing promotional activities and materials to publicise particular schemes
• Keeping accurate records and regularly collecting energy monitoring data
• Carrying out site inspections and energy surveys
• Continuously improving energy generation and consumption
• Keeping up to date with legislation
• Maintaining appropriate ISO 50001, ISO 14001 and BS standards
• Managing the other standards relating to energy and compliance – e.g. CHPQA, EUETS (or equivalent), Climate Change Levy, Capacity market etc.

Essential qualifications and required experience :-
• Degree or high level qualification in either energy management or environmental management
• Fast moving light to heavy manufacturing background (ideally in cement, metals, glass, paper or packaging)
• Experience working to the ISO 50001 and ISO 14001 standards with strong auditing skills
• Good understanding of electrical and mechanical systems as well as knowledge of the business energy use and energy regulations
• Experience in a lead Energy & Compliance role, and comfortable with responsibilities of a compliance role and legal consequences of non-compliance
• Good stakeholder engagement and communication skills
