HSE Recruitment are currently working with a leading education establishment in Northampton on the recruitment of a contract Assistant Health and Safety Officer. This role requires a start date of Monday 23rd April. If you are interested in this role you MUST be able to attend a telephone interview on Friday 20th April, with a view to start immediately.

As an Assistant Health and Safety Officer you will be responsible for working closely with the building manager on the provision of Health and Safety Advice across the college, monitoring risk management policies and procedures, monitoring accident and investigations as necessary and ensuring that the accident reporting system is well maintained with regular reports being generated. You will be the first point of contact for external agencies such as the HSE and the Fire authority and will carry out regular safety audits and inspections across the company. You will ideally be able to offer induction training to new staff members and tool box talks, and will work closely with HR to organise external training on subjects such as first aid, and evac chair.

You will have a NEBOSH Certificate (or equivalent) as a minimum and a degree in an unrelated subject is also a benefit. You will have excellent knowledge of safety in a similar environment such as education, councils, property or care and will have excellent written and verbal communication skills. You will have a customer centric approach to safety and will be able to engage with staff members in a personable and approachable manner. As this role is within an education environment and requires an immediate start you MUST already hold DBS disclosure. If you do not currently hold a DBS we apologise but you will not be eligible for this contract.

In return you will receive a salary of £20-22.50 per hour, based on a 37.5 hour week.
