This is a unique opportunity to join a leading independent schools organisation – who educate close to 50,000 students across more than 20 countries – as their very first Director of Health, Safety and Safeguarding.
The organisation have grown significantly, through both acquisition and continuous expansion, and this newly created role is a key hire for the business. You will be at the forefront of creating and leading the health and safety strategy for the business, working with key stakeholders in five regional hubs and schools across the globe.
You will be given the autonomy to create, lead and drive continuous improvement across all areas of traditional Health & Safety and Risk Management, including fire risk management, planned/reactive maintenance programmes (and associated contractor management), site security and staff wellbeing. This will be achieved through a culture of engagement and an active audit programme. In addition, and absolutely key to this role, will be a strategic and proactive approach to student safeguarding and child protection, alongside robust business continuity plans.
This role requires a senior health and safety professional who has the ability to set strategy and create a culture of accountability on a global scale, always mindful of the reputational impact on the organisation. That said you must also not be too distant from day-to-day operations, and be able to move effortlessly between micro and macro challenges. As such you must demonstrate your ability to build relationships, encourage accountability and promote ongoing training and development.
Key Experience you must have to be considered:
• A NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent qualification/ degree).
• Multisite experience (International Multisite experience would be desirable).
• Education, third sector organisations such as NHS, voluntary and community experience is essential.
• Safeguarding Experience with minors or vulnerable people is essential- not just an awareness.
• Ability and proven track record of driving and leading strategy while in an operational capacity.
The role is based at the organisation's head office in Oxford with around 50% travel to the other regions Globally, so you must be mobile. The salary for this position is circa £80,000-120,000 per annum (equivalent) with additional benefits and a relocation package on offer.
