A very exciting opportunity has arose at a leading UK Manufacturer for a REACH and Environment Advisor as part of the wider EHS Department under a EHS Manager. They are seeking an ambitious and talented Regulatory compliance and REACH specialist to join their site in West Bromwich. They want someone with a proactive attitude, someone who sees safety different and wants to develop their skill set.

My client is a well-established and respected business in the UK Chemical market who offer very niche products. They are a lower tier COMAH Site. Key scope of the role (but not exclusive to the following):

• To ensure all manufactured and / or imported substances and intermediates are registered under the EU and UK REACH regimes.
• Accountable for Chemical Regulations, environmental compliance, waste,
• To identify and commission relevant testing to recognised international standards for substances and / or intermediates.
• Where appropriate perform chemical safety assessments, including report writing.
• To maintain and update registration dossiers.
• To liaise with the Only Representative (OR) on EU registration matters, and ensuring relevant data is provided to the OR to maintain EU registrations.
• Act as company SIEF Manager, ensuring all recoverable cost are identified.
• Prepare and submit annual and quarterly returns to the Environment Agency.
• Monitor CEMS data on a daily basis, keeping records of any reportable or non-reportable emission breaches.
• Review and submit Project Briefing Notes for new or changed substances / processes to the Environment Agency.
• Undertake training when and as required.
• When and as required assist with waste identification and labelling
• Provide SHE Manager with an annual REACH budget request

Required Qualifications:

• Experience working in the chemical sector and ideally hold a B.Sc. in chemistry/biochemistry
• Thorough knowledge and ability to competently evaluate toxicological and ecotoxicological properties for hazard evaluation.
• Thorough knowledge and ability to use IUCLID software tools
• Previous experience in QSAR assessments
• Previous experience using ecotox and tox software tools
• NEBOSH Certificate in Environmental Management and general certificate desirable
• Previous basic toxicology or health & safety training / experience essential
• Previous experience in calculating pollution inventory requirements
