HSE Recruitment have been exclusively retained by a growing manufacturing business in Hay-on-Wye to source a new Environment, Health & Safety Manager. This role is the single point of accountability, the go to EHS expert for the site, the person who will drive the strategy, set the policies, and push the business towards even higher standards.
The business is flexible on what this role looks like. As a minimum you will be a single site EHS Manager responsible for the Hay-on-Wye site, sitting as part of the SLT, driving and implementing a strategy on site. If you have the skills and experience to take on extra responsibility, there is a sister site in Dublin you could also take responsibility for and take on an additional team member. The business will take each candidate situation independently and discuss this at interview.
This company operate Globally with 10 sites across the UK, Europe, North America, Canada and are continuing to grow. There are 250-300 staff at the Hay-on-Wye site and the same at the Dublin site. There is a good culture on site, they have a strong safety record and a supportive team from supervisor/team leader level to senior manager level.
Reporting into the General Manager and managing a team of one, you will be part of the global EHS network and sit as part of the senior leadership team on site. You will also be a very visible, shop floor focused manager who is out driving those behaviours. What they are looking for is that continual improvement and identification of gaps from a fresh pair of eyes.
• Diploma or Degree level qualified in Health & Safety.
• You will have ideally worked in a highly regulated manufacturing environment such as pharma, chemical, food, automotive, aero/defence etc.
• We are looking for an experienced HSE professional at manager level or someone who is ready to step up into a manager role.
• Engaging, practical and pragmatic- not a safety police officer.
• Confident in a shop floor, factory environment but also in a board room with the senior leadership team.
Interview Process- It will most likely be three stages; the first stage will be a short MS Teams call, the second stage is a tour, interview and presentation and the final stage may be a call with the Global EHS Director.
This role is going to be based at Hay-on-Wye at least 3 days a week with the ability to work from home 2 days a week (although naturally the more time spent on site the better).
Salary is £45-60,000 depending on experience.
